Consider Installing a Ductless System This Fall

With heating season just around the corner, now is the time to install a new heating system in your home. There are a wide range of different heating systems available on the market, each with its own list of advantages to offer. It’s important to take a look at the whole field, so you can find the heating system best suited to your individual needs. With that in mind, let’s take a look at how a ductless system can help you this fall.

Ductless Mini Splits

A ductless mini split is a system that relies on many small air handlers to distribute heat, rather than one large air handler with a duct system. Each air handler conditions a single room, with up to four of them connected to an outdoor unit. There is a thermostat for each air handler, as well, so that it can operate separately from the rest of the system. Ductless mini splits are heat pumps, and so they are able to act as both heating and cooling systems.

Advantages of Using a Ductless Mini Split

Ductless systems have many advantages to over centralized forced air systems. A ductless system overs a much greater degree of control over your indoor climate; you can set the ideal temperature for each room in the house. Ductless mini splits are also much more energy efficient than traditional heating systems, because they don’t have to burn any kind of fuel to generate heat. Finally, ductless systems don’t have to worry about duct leaks. This may seem a small advantage, but according to the US Department of Energy, duct leaks are responsible for energy losses of up to 30% of a system’s output.
